COVID-19: Island LGA Council Sets Up Additional 5 Vaccination Centres

As part of efforts to ensure mass Covid-19 vaccination, the Lagos Island Local Government Council has added five vaccination centres to the existing 11.

According to the Council Chairman, Hon. Toyese Olusi, this is to ensure residents have more centres where they can get vaccinated, urging the people to take advantage of the initiative.


The centres, he disclosed, are located at Idumota/ Agotawa, Central mosque, Balogun CDA hall, CMS/ Leventis park and Breadfruit/Iga Iduganran.

He called on the private sector to collaborate with the council, towards boosting health care in the LGA.


Among other efforts by the LGA in its determination to ensure proper response of residents to the efforts of the council, it has also carried out constant sensitisation, distribution of hand sanitisers and nose masks as well as regular fumigation of public places.

At the event, free hypertension and diabetics screening, free eye treatment and distribution of eyeglasses, HIV screening, cervical cancer screening, and free treatment of minor cases were also provided for the people.

Beneficiaries and stakeholders appreciated the effort of the council, describing it as unprecedented support, revealing that medical attention has been offered at no cost.
